Updated 05/05/2020

A one week curfew has been imposed in Kaura Namoda, one of the Local Government Area of Zamfara State by the state government.

After confirmed cases of Coronavirus rose from one to tewlve with one fatality in the state, the State Governor, Bello Matawalle ordered the close-down of all places of worship and markets but not including those selling foodstuffs and medicals.

The death of the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Mohammed Asha from suspected Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday May 3, made it necessary to reduce the spread of Coronavirus in the state because a good number residents in the local government failed to stick to social distancing directives and safety precautions in their daily activities.

Effect of the curfew will be reviewed after one week.
